Pakistan’s top-order batter, Saim Ayub broke his half-century drought in international cricket during the first Test against Bangladesh here on Wednesday.

Undoubtedly, Saim Ayub has been the Pakistan team’s knight in shining armor during Pakistan vs Bangladesh 1st test match

Saim reached the milestone on the last ball of Shoriful Islam’s eighth over on the opening day of the Rawalpindi Test.

The opening batter hit four boundaries and one six on his way to a 76-ball half-century.

The PAK vs BAN 1st test was set to begin at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, but overnight rain in the city delayed the match for 4 hours. 

Pakistan lost opening batter Abdullah Shafique (2) in the fourth over after Zakir Hasan took a spectacular flying catch off Hasan Mahmud.

Skipper Shan Masood (6) and star batter Babar Azam (0) fell prey to Shoriful Islam’s exceptional bowling, leaving Pakistan at a crushing 16-3.

The skipper Shan and Babar were caught behind the wicket by Liton Das. 

Saim took it upon himself to take his team to a decent score before Saud joined him and together they helped Pakistan to recover with a solid partnership of 97* runs.

Pakistan were 81-3 at the tea break, with Saim and Saud unbeaten at 42 and 28 respectively.

Moreover, Saud Shakeel has also become the joint fastest Pakistani batsman to score 1000 runs in test cricket. He achieved this milestone in just 11 matches. 

The match is now in its last session which will end at 6 PM (PST). 

The Pakistan vs Bangladesh test series is part of the ICC World Test Championship and will take place from 21st August till 3rd September. 

Both test matches will be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
