Rangpur Riders Outclass Dhaka Capitals as Malan, Hridoy Shine With the Bat

Rangpur Riders thrashed Dhaka Capitals in a closely fought contest at the Mirpur Stadium. Dawid Malan was named Player of the Match as he scored a brilliant 78 runs in the first innings of the match. Alongside him, Towhid Hridoy was equally impressive, as his knock of 62 runs helped Riders to post 181 on the board. They defended the target in the second innings with a clinical bowling performance, and won the match by 11 runs.

Batting first, Dawid Malan and Towhid Hridoy built a big partnership that gave Rangpur Riders a solid batting base in the first innings. The English star showcased his class and experience at the crease, giving Rangpur Riders an edge over Capitals bowling.

The young Bangladeshi star, Towhid Hridoy, also played a superb innings of 62 runs by hitting boundaries consistently. Due to his support at the other end, Malan played his natural game and dominated the middle overs with powerful striking.

Dawid Malan was looking well set to score his first century of the BPL 2026 season, but Taskin Ahmed removed him for 78 runs. It was a superb innings that included 8 fours and 4 sixes, giving Riders a strong impetus on the scoreboard.

After the dismissal of Malan and Hridoy, Kyle Mayers played a brief cameo towards the end of the innings. Due to his quick 24 off 16 balls, Rangpur Riders managed to score 181 at the end of the first innings.

Dhaka Capitals started the chase on a lower note, as they lost Abdullah Al Mamun very early in the Powerplay. Usman Khan then played with a positive intent in the first six overs, but Faheem Ashraf eventually dismissed him for 31 runs. The wicket of Usman Khan made things difficult for Dhaka Capitals, as their middle order failed badly afterwards.

A late cameo by Mohammad Saifuddin at the end made the match interesting, as his knock of 58 runs brought Capitals closer to the target. However, Riders held their nerves firmly in the final overs and won the match by 11 runs. This was a crucial victory for them, as it allowed their team to secure fourth position on the BPL 2026 points table.
