PCB Set to Investigate Pakistan Players’ Conduct in Ongoing England Tour

The PCB has decided to look into the behavior and discipline of Pakistan’s players during the ongoing tour of England. The board said the move followed media reports that raised questions about the team’s conduct, something the management wants to look into closely.

Speaking about the ongoing investigation, PCB media director Amir Mir said that the board is looking into the matter internally and making sure that all aspects are being handled according to standard procedures.

“The Pakistan Cricket Board has initiated an internal disciplinary inquiry following media reports concerning discipline and conduct, which are currently being reviewed internally. The PCB handles such matters in accordance with its standard procedures. The process is being conducted under PCB regulations, ensuring that all concerned individuals are given due consideration.” said the PCB media director, Amir Mir.

“At this stage, any speculative reports or unverified claims circulating on certain platforms, particularly those originating from hostile external sources, should not be regarded as credible.” added Amir Mir.

“The PCB will not comment further at this time. The Board advises stakeholders and the public to rely on official PCB communications.” added Amir Mir.

The development followed a major shake-up in Pakistan’s men’s national team, which is currently in Birmingham for the third and final Test against England.

After Pakistan suffered a 194-run defeat at Lord’s in the second Test, the PCB made several changes to the squad, replacing seven players. In addition, the board also removed head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul from their roles after just six matches. The white-ball coaches, Mike Hesson and Ashley Noffke, have now been given charge of the team on an interim basis.

The coaching changes followed problems within the team management, with communication breaking down between the touring selection committee and Aaqib Javed, the PCB’s director of high performance and one of the four selectors.

For now, it is not known who exactly is being investigated or how long the process will take. The PCB has also not said what action, if any, could be taken once the investigation is completed. It remains unclear whether the probe involves only the players who have been recalled or also those currently in Birmingham preparing for the third Test, which starts on September 9.
