The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) today unveiled its 2025–26 women’s central contract list, which now includes a significant promotion for left-arm spinner Sadia Iqbal. She has been elevated to Category A — placing her among the top tier alongside captain Fatima Sana, wicketkeeper-batter Muneeba Ali, and Sidra Amin.

  • The 2025–26 contract cycle includes 20 players across five categories (A to E), compared to 16 in the previous year’s list.

  • All contracts take effect from 1 July 2025, running through 30 June 2026, covering Pakistan’s busy schedule including the Women’s World Cup 2025 and T20 World Cup 2026.

  • The PCB has implemented a 50% retainer fee increase for contracted players, along with substantial raises in match fees across formats.

Recently regaining the ICC No. 1 T20I bowler ranking, she distinguished herself at the ICC Women's World Cup Qualifier in Lahore. She ended up taking 9 wickets at an average of 16. This is what took her from Category B to now a Category A player in the Pakistan Women’s Team.

This move positions Iqbal not only as a central member of Pakistan’s bowling unit, but also as one of the team’s most experienced and trusted professionals.

The step-up in contract value and structure reflects her trajectory toward being a first-choice spinner for Pakistan across formats.
