The United Kingdom has officially cleared Pakistani cricketer Haider Ali after he was accused of rape in Manchester, and the case was later dismissed by Greater Manchester Police because of insufficient evidence.

A British-Pakistani woman accused the 24-year-old batter of an incident that happened at a Manchester hotel towards the end of July. The evidence provided, the police reported later, was not sufficient to go ahead, and the CPS also decided to drop the charges.

During the investigation, he was tentatively suspended by the Pakistan Cricket Board, and his status is under review.

Haider Ali made his international debut in 2020, and he has played two ODIs and 35 T20Is since then. His last appearance for Pakistan came during the 2023 Asian Games was against Afghanistan.

This is a massive relief to the young cricketer, and he is now able to concentrate on getting his global career back on track without the burden of court cases.
