Pakistan Reach 46/2 After 10 Overs as Babar Anchors Innings
Pakistan reached 46/2 after 10 overs against England in the second ODI at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, with Babar Azam holding the innings together alongside young wicketkeeper-batter Saad Baig.
Babar was unbeaten on 26 off 41 balls, including four boundaries, while Saad had made 9 off 12 deliveries. The pair need to rebuild after Pakistan lost both openers inside the first six overs.
Fakhar Zaman fell for a golden duck on the first ball, caught by Joe Root off Gus Atkinson. Saim Ayub followed for 8 off 6 balls, caught by Sam Curran off Sonny Baker at 31/2 in 5.5 overs.
England captain Harry Brook elected to bowl after winning the toss, and his bowlers made an early impact. Atkinson had figures of 1/22 from five overs, while Baker took 1/20 in three overs. Will Jacks kept things tight, conceding just two runs in his first two overs.
Pakistan's scoring rate stood at 4.60 runs per over at the 10-over mark. Babar's steady approach has helped stop the early damage, while Saad will look to support him as the innings develops.
