Bangladesh Cricket Board President, Nazmul Hassan Papon has resigned from his post during Pakistan vs Bangladesh test series owing to political turmoil in the country.

Meanwhile, a BCB meeting in Dhaka decided to appoint former international player Faruque Ahmed as the new president.

Nazmul Hassan’s resignation was much awaited and anticipated after students’ countrywide protests led to the downfall of Bangladesh President Sheikh Hasina.

Former BCB President Nazmul was part of the Hasina-led Bangladesh Awami League and was an elected member of the Parliament.

He first became the president of Bangladesh Cricket Board in 2012 after being nominated by the government.

In the following year, he was elected again and since then, he served as the BCB President for three consecutive terms.

Currently, the Bangladesh team is in Pakistan to play a two-match test series. Would such disturbance back home dampen the spirits of the Bangladesh cricket team or will they take it as a source of motivation to perform even better in the Pakistan vs Bangladesh test series?

The first Test was scheduled to begin earlier this morning, however the toss has been delayed due to a wet outfield in Rawalpindi.

The umpires found wet patches in the outfield of Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium due to overnight rain.
