The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is expected to confirm its 16-man squad later this week for the upcoming three-match T20I tour of Bangladesh. The announcement comes with a surprise twist: left-arm spinner Sufiyan Muqeem may earn his maiden recall for the series starting in Dhaka on 20 July .

Sources suggest no changes among Pakistan’s core lineup, aside from the inclusion of Sufiyan Muqeem, who impressed during the recent New Zealand tour. The 25-year-old left-armer averaged 3.0 and took six wickets in two overs—making him a dark-horse contender for the spin-heavy conditions expected in Dhaka.

Despite being global fixtures, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi are once again expected to miss the series. All three were rested during the home T20 sweep of Bangladesh and are said to remain outside the selectors’ plans amidst Pakistan's strategic push to develop bench strength.

The squad is expected to be led by Salman Ali Agha, with Shadab Khan continuing as vice-captain. Reports indicate a youthful yet seasoned squad featuring the likes of Hasan Ali, Hasan Nawaz, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, and Saim Ayub — striking a blend between experience and emerging talent.

The PCB is expected to finalise and release the squad before July 7, when the team will convene at Karachi’s National Bank Stadium. With Pakistan arriving in Dhaka on 16 July, attention will quickly shift to Sufiyan Muqeem’s role in leveraging spin-friendly subcontinental tracks under pressure.
