Pakistan's under-18 men’s hockey team overcame Bangladesh 6-3 in the U-18 Hockey Asia Cup 2025, continuing their dominance and remaining unbeaten in the tournament.

In the first 20 minutes, Pakistan took the lead by a whopping 3-0. Asam Haider, the team’s forward, converted a penalty corner in the 8th minute, followed by a field goal from Atif Ali four minutes later. Adeel's goal towards the top right corner a minute before half time ensured a comfortable lead.

The third quarter saw a spirited response from Bangladesh as they scored two goals from counterattacks. However, the Green Shirts responded decisively. Awan scored in the 48th minute, followed by Zubair Latif's field goal in the 53rd minute to seal the game.

In one of the remaining matches, the Pakistan U-18 team demolished Sri Lanka 9-0, an indication of their dominance. Pakistan remains on top in Group A with the win over Bangladesh and is set to play China, which is the host nation, on 9 July for the final match of the group stage.

Tactical takeaways:

  • Quick-start strategy: Early goal creation and successful penalty corner execution established control.
  • Offensive resilience: In spite of Bangladesh's gallant fightback and scoring the goal, Pakistan soon sealed its dominance over the match.
  • Clinical finishing: Six of the goals were scored by six different forwards, which is an indication of the depth in attack that Pakistan has.

Pakistan will play China in the final group A match (9 July) tomorrow before proceeding to the knockout stages. They go into that game as strong favourites to win the group and continue the momentum towards their Asia Cup title bid.
