New Zealand retained the FIH Hockey Nations Cup, thumping Pakistan 6–2 in the final at Kuala Lumpur’s National Hockey Stadium on Saturday.

The Black Sticks jumped to an early 2–0 lead with two quick goals, before exploding with three more just before half-time, delivering a brutal shock to Pakistan’s defence. With the score at 5–0 by the break, New Zealand were firmly in control .

Pakistan rallied in the third quarter when Moin Shakeel opened their account. Despite five penalty corners, they couldn’t breach the New Zealand defence again. The Kiwis added a sixth goal late and Sufyan Khan replied with a consolation strike from a penalty corner.
