“The New Sultans Have Arrived”: Gohar Shah Restores Multan Sultans Brand

The ownership shift at Multan Sultans has triggered more than a corporate transition. It has sparked an emotional reset ahead of the Pakistan Super League Season 11.

Syed Gohar Shah, whose company CD Ventures now holds a majority stake in the franchise, addressed supporters with a deeply personal message that framed the takeover as a mission of identity rather than investment. The deal, confirmed in Lahore alongside PSL officials, also formalized the rebranding of Sialkot Stallionz back to Multan Sultans, a move Shah described as restoring regional pride.

“Our beloved Multan Sultans, the true representatives of our region, are officially back in the HBL PSL,” he said.

For Shah, the acquisition is rooted in memory. He revisited childhood scenes from Jalalpur Pirwala, recalling a village cricket match that shaped his emotional connection to the sport.

“My mind goes back to my very first memory of cricket in my village, a local match at one of Haveli Lang’s school grounds, Jalalpur Pirwala versus Balewala,” he shared. “I still vividly remember the uplifting atmosphere in the village that day, especially after the final ball was bowled.”

Beyond nostalgia, Shah outlined two driving principles: safeguarding South Punjab’s representation and raising competitive standards. “I wanted to ensure that no one could strip our region of its right to be represented on Pakistan’s biggest stage,” he stated, adding that his vision includes building a brand of cricket capable of strengthening Pakistan’s global competitiveness.

He urged fans to reconnect with the team’s legacy of four finals in five seasons. “We held the line to save this team, and now we expect you to hold the stands,” he said.

Shah acknowledged the contributions of the PCB leadership and the Tareen family, crediting them for shaping the franchise into a PSL force.

“It is time, Multan. The new Sultans have arrived.”
