Liverpool forward Diogo Jota, 28, and his brother André Silva, 25, tragically died in a late-night car accident near Zamora in northwestern Spain, the Spanish Civil Guard confirmed today by the Guardian.

The pair were traveling in a Lamborghini on the A-52 highway around 00:30 CET when a suspected tyre blowout caused the vehicle to veer off-road and erupt into flames. Emergency services arrived swiftly, but both brothers were sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Jota joined Liverpool in 2020 and played 182 games, scoring 65 goals. He won the Premier League, FA Cup, EFL Cup, and UEFA Nations League during his tenure.

He earned 49 caps for Portugal, contributing to their Nations League victories in 2019 and 2025. Just days earlier, he married long-term partner Rute Cardoso and was a devoted father to their three children.
