IND vs ZIM 2nd T20I: Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma Lead India’s Charge to 219/5 in Harare

IND vs ZIM 2nd T20I: Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma Lead India’s Charge to 219/5 in Harare

After being put in to bat by Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza, India overcame an early setback to completely dominate the contest. Opening batters Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for 8 runs off 8 balls by Blessing Muzarabani, and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s quickfire 20 off 9 balls was cut short by Richard Ngarava, leaving India at 29/2 inside three overs.

The middle order then launched an authoritative counter-attack to stabilize and accelerate the innings. Ishan Kishan anchored the innings with a brilliant 81 off 44 balls, featuring 9 boundaries and 2 sixes.

He built a steady 66-run partnership with skipper Shreyas Iyer, who contributed 25 runs off 20 balls, before forming a destructive 94-run stand with Tilak Varma. Kishan was eventually caught by Brian Bennett off Newman Nyamhuri in the 18th over with India well in control at 189/4.

Tilak Varma provided the late fireworks, reaching a rapid half-century off just 23 deliveries. He remained unbeaten on 60 off 29 balls, striking 5 fours and 3 sixes at an explosive strike rate of 206.89. Rinku Singh added a brief cameo of 12 off 8 balls before falling to Brad Evans, while Shivam Dube finished the innings on 6 not out off 3 balls to take India to 219/5 at a scoring rate of 10.95 runs per over.

Zimbabwe's bowlers found it tough to check the run flow despite single wickets from Muzarabani, Ngarava, Evans, Nyamhuri, and Bennett. Zimbabwe now faces a steep target of 220 runs in 20 overs. Catch all the live second-innings action with ZIM vs IND live on tapmad.
