The ICC, BCCI, and the PCB have failed to reach a middle ground regarding Champions Trophy 2025 venue despite all the meetings taking place over the weekend.

The Pakistan Cricket Board officials including Chairman Mohsin Naqvi have returned to Pakistan after attending a series of meetings with the International Cricket Council and the Board of Control for Cricket India.

Before the meeting, the ICC came up with two possible solutions with the most popular one including staging all of India’s matches at a neutral venue like Dubai.

This meant that Pakistan would also be stripped of the chance of hosting the Champions Trophy 2025 semi-final or even the final match if India qualifies for it.

The ICC made it clear that the tournament could not be held without India therefore, it was looking to find a solution that gave some peace and satisfaction to both countries.

Earlier, the PCB had completely rejected the possibility of adopting a hybrid model, stating that it was not ready to share the hosting rights with another country.

After Friday’s 15-minute long abandoned meeting between the ICC, BCCI, and the PCB, Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and co. have decided to accept the hybrid model but with certain conditions.

As per PCB’s condition which is also being called the “Partnership or Fusion Formula”, all of India vs Pakistan matches will be played in Dubai for the next three years starting from ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

This means that neither India nor Pakistan will travel to each other’s countries to participate in any ICC related tournaments and play their matches against each other at a neutral venue.

According to sources, the ICC has listened to the PCB’s fusion formula, but they will only make a decision after discussing it with the BCCI.

It’s worth remembering that it was the BCCI who actually suggested the hybrid model when the Indian government refused to send its cricket team to Pakistan.

Let’s see if the ICC and BCCI will accept the Pakistan Cricket Board’s fusion formula and finally put an end to this bone of contention regarding the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 venue.
