ICC Anti-Corruption Code now applies to Pakistan’s domestic cricket

The Pakistan Cricket Board has confirmed that the ICC’s Anti-Corruption Code will now cover domestic cricket in Pakistan. The decision was taken in a recent Governing Board meeting, where members agreed that players at all levels must follow the same rules as international cricketers.
According to PCB officials, strict action will be taken against anyone found guilty of fixing or other corrupt practices. Match-fixing and spot-fixing may lead to suspensions between five years and life, while betting on cricket could result in bans of up to five years. Even failure to report a suspicious approach or sharing inside information will be treated as a serious offence.
Internal sources from the board indicated that the punishment will depend on the intention, previous history, and cooperation in investigations. First offenders who repent may be given lighter sentences, but repeat offenders may be sentenced to lifetime bans.
PCB has also emphasized the zero-tolerance principle regarding corruption, as well as the assurance of continuing the player education programs. The board believes the move is essential to protect the credibility of the domestic game and to ensure young cricketers understand the risks of breaking the rules.
With this step, Pakistan’s domestic cricket will now operate under the same anti-corruption measures as the global game. Follow tapmad for more cricket-related updates.
