Australia’s wicketkeeper-batter Alyssa Healy has confirmed she will not retire after this year’s Women’s ODI World Cup, declaring she still has more to offer ahead of her anticipated return behind the stumps.

Despite speculation that she might exit following the tournament, Healy—who turned 35 this year—revealed she’s recommitted herself to the national setup. After recovering from a foot stress fracture and knee issues, she’s been named in the Australia A squad to play India A in August as part of her comeback journey.

“It’s probably shifted a little bit,” she told AAP according to ESPN. “It’s made me realise I still want to do a little bit more … I want to play a home summer. I want to bring the World Cup home.”

Healy missed much of the WBBL and recent international series due to injury. She’s now preparing to play as a specialist batter, while Beth Mooney keeps wicket. Healy confirmed she will resume her glovework later this year.

Her inclusion in the Australia A squad is the next step as she recovers and ensures she’s fully fit ahead of the World Cup and before the next Ashes series.

Choosing to continue beyond the tournament suggests she might play into the 2026 home summer, further delaying plans to retire.

Alyssa Healy remains determined to end her career on a high, not as a farewell act. With her return to keeping on the horizon and an eye on back-to-back World Cup glory, the veteran appears poised to extend her legacy in Australia’s top order. As preparations ramp up this summer, she’s clearly in it for the long haul.
