Pakistan’s premier fast bowler Haris Rauf has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match T20I series in Bangladesh, beginning on 20 July, after sustaining a Grade 1 hamstring strain during the ongoing Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 tournament in the United States.

Rauf was bowling for the San Francisco Unicorns against the Texas Super Kings when he sustained the injury. An MRI scan confirmed a Grade 1 hamstring strain, ruling him out for the rest of the MLC season and making him unlikely to recover in time for Pakistan’s T20I series in Dhaka.

He had been in outstanding form, leading the MLC wicket charts with 17 wickets in eight matches.

The Pakistan squad is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on 16 July, with T20Is lined up on 20, 22, and 24 July. Rauf, however, is now expected to miss the entire series . With no official comment from the PCB yet, the absence of Rauf—a frontline pacer at the death—requires a strategic reshuffle of Pakistan’s T20 pace attack.

Rauf’s injury is a setback ahead of Pakistan’s white-ball tour of the West Indies in August, which includes both T20Is and ODIs.

The PCB is now expected to consider replacement options and finalize their squad with fresh pace resources given the intensity of back-to-back tours .

Haris Rauf’s hamstring injury—and subsequent withdrawal from both Major League Cricket and Pakistan’s upcoming T20I series—marks a major blow to the Men in Green's limited-overs plans. With his absence, Pakistan will need to adjust their pace attack and squad dynamics ahead of two crucial overseas white-ball tours.
