Haris Rauf was recently ruled out of the upcoming three-match T20I series in Bangladesh, which is set to begin on 20 July, after the premier fast bowler for the Pakistani team sustained an injury to his hamstring during the ongoing Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 tournament in the United States.

While bowling for the San Francisco Unicorns against the Texas Super Kings, Rauf sustained a Grade 1 hamstring strain, which was confirmed by an MRI scan. This ruled him out for the rest of the MLC season, which makes his recovery in time for Pakistan’s T20I series in Dhaka improbable.

He had been in outstanding form, leading the MLC wicket charts with 17 wickets in eight matches.

The T20Is are slated for 20, 22, and 24 July, and the Pakistani team’s arrival in Dhaka is scheduled for 16 July. Rauf, however, is now expected to miss the entire series . With no official comment from the PCB yet, the absence of a frontline pacer at the death calls for a well-planned reshuffle of Pakistan’s T20 pace attack.

Rauf’s injury is a setback ahead of Pakistan’s white-ball tour of the West Indies in August, which includes both T20Is and ODIs.

The PCB is now expected to consider replacement options and finalize their squad with fresh pace resources, given the intensity of back-to-back tours .

This hamstring injury, followed by Rauf’s withdrawal from both the Major League Cricket and Pakistan’s upcoming T20I series, will be a major blow to the Men in Green’s limited-overs plans. The Pakistani team requires a prompt adjustment to their pace, attacks and squad dynamics before these critical white-ball tours
