Pakistan’s fast bowling spearhead Haris Rauf has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh (20–24 July in Dhaka) after sustaining a Grade 1 hamstring strain during Major League Cricket in the United States. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has also named its squad without both Rauf and all-rounder Shadab Khan, who is recovering from shoulder surgery .

Rauf was bowling for the San Francisco Unicorns when he suffered the injury, confirmed via MRI just before the MLC playoffs.

His absence leaves Pakistan without its primary T20 death-bowler, disrupting plans for both the Bangladesh visit and subsequent West Indies white-ball tour.

Led by Salman Ali Agha, the 15-member squad features a mix of domestic talents and white-ball veterans. Notable inclusions include uncapped pacers Salman Mirza and Ahmed Daniyal, along with returning spinner Mohammad Nawaz.

Pakistan squad (T20Is vs Bangladesh): Salman Ali Agha (c), Abrar Ahmed, Ahmed Daniyal, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Hassan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Haris (wk), Mohammad Nawaz, Sahibzada Farhan (wk), Saim Ayub, Salman Mirza, Sufiyan Muqeem.

Strategic Shifts

  • With Rauf unavailable, Pakistan’s pace bowling setup will rely on Mirza, Abbas Afridi, and Daniyal to fill the void at the death end.

  • Spinner Mohammad Nawaz's inclusion adds balance and experience in middle overs, with long-term white-ball ambitions in mind.

Pakistan leave for Dhaka on 16 July and begin final preparations before the first T20I on 20 July at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium. PCB selectors will closely monitor Rauf’s rehab, hoping for his return during the West Indies series in late July.
