Sam Konstas has been included in Australia A team which will be touring India. This will offer the 19 year old opener a pathway to take a new direction despite a challenging stint at the Test level and make a case for Ashes selection. Chief selector George Bailey confirmed the move, framing it as a strategic opportunity for performance reassessment.

To give a little history, Konstas fell short in the recent Caribbean tour, accumulating just 50 runs across six innings at a miserable average of 8.33. This is a record low for an Australian Test opener in the region since 1984.

Media coverage highlighted the psychological and technical struggles Konstas faced post-debut, noting his repeated dismissals and diminished impact. One pundit described this phase as mismanagement that "may have jeopardised his long-term future."

With the Ashes series on the horizon, national selectors are keen to reassess both Konstas and Nathan McSweeney—another opener—in competitive conditions.
