Dortmund Break Köln’s Resistance as Beier Strikes Late in 1–0 Thriller

Borussia Dortmund needed patience, power, and a slice of late drama to break FC Köln. For 95 minutes, they pushed and probed but could not beat Marvin Schwäbe, a goalkeeper who played like he had tied destiny to his gloves. But football refuses to negotiate with effort alone. By halftime, the score stayed 0–0. Then, Dortmund’s players started to run beyond the defensive line. Serhou Guirassy, silent in the first half, nearly exploded the night open in the 52nd minute. A rifled cross from Julian Brandt picked him out inside the box. He hit the ball with violence, but Schwäbe refused to move aside..

Beier found it first and fired from three yards. Schwäbe watched it pass him for the first time all night. Beier sprinted away to the Yellow Wall. Dortmund celebrated with relief. The table recorded a narrow 1–0 win. Beier stole the headlines, but the match belonged to persistence.
