All-Round Mahedi Hasan Guides Chattogram Royals to BPL 2026 Final

Chattogram Royals defeated Rajshahi Warriors to secure their place in the BPL 2026 final. Their captain, Mahedi Hasan, was the standout performer in Qualifier 1, as he performed strongly in both innings of the match. Alongside him, the fighting knock of Mirza Baig in the second innings was also outstanding, as it allowed Chattogram Royals to win the match by 6 wickets.

The batting performance of Rajshahi Warriors in the first innings was disappointing, as their middle order failed to live up to the expectations. The Warriors started their innings on a high note, as Sahibzada Farhan and Tanzid Hasan played positively in the Powerplay. They took down the opening attack of Chattogram Royals confidently by playing shots all around the ground.

The partnership that was steadily growing between Farhan and Hasan was then broken by Tanvir Islam. He sent Sahibzada Farhan back to the pavilion after scoring 21 runs, giving the Royals a vital breakthrough in the match.

After this dismissal, the batting lineup of Rajshahi Warriors faced multiple setbacks in the form of back-to-back wickets. Tanzid Hasan stood firmly at one end, but he too lost his wicket in the middle overs after scoring gritty 41 runs.

The middle order of Warriors then faced a stunning collapse, as no batter managed to put up any fight. A late order cameo by Abdul Gaffar Saqlain then helped them to post 133 on the board, which certainly looked like a below-par score on the Mirpur ground.

When Chattogram Royals came out to bat, they showcased complete dominance in the field. Both openers, Mirza Baig and Mohammad Naim, played steadily to keep the wickets in hand. The innings of Mirza Baig was especially impressive, as he scored 45 off just 47 balls by hitting four boundaries.

Rajshahi Warriors made a brief comeback in the middle overs by taking quick wickets, but Mahedi Hasan came up with a perfect cameo to seal the victory. He smashed quick 19 runs towards the end of the innings to chase down a tricky target of 134 runs. By winning this crucial match, Chattogram Royals have now entered the BPL 2026 final, which will be played on January 23 at the Mirpur Stadium.
