Chattogram Royals came up with a commanding performance against Dhaka Capitals at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. They crushed Capitals by 10 wickets, courtesy of an exceptional partnership between Mohammad Naim and Adam Rossington. Both batters dominated the Capitals bowlers in the second innings, chasing down the target of 123 runs in just 12.4 overs.
With two losses in three matches, Dhaka Capitals are now at the second last position in the points table. They would be particularly disappointed with today’s performance, as their players were completely outclassed by the ruthless Chattogram Royals in both innings of the game.
Batting first, Dhaka Capitals stumbled early by losing both openers in the Powerplay. It was a big blow for them, because they were relying on Saif Hassan to score quickly in the first six overs. He got out after scoring just 1 run on a superb inswinging delivery by Shoriful Islam. His partner, Zubaid Akbari also lost his wicket after scoring just 2 runs.
Usman Khan, who came in at number three, played positively by hitting boundaries. His counterpunch pushed back the Royals team; however, a ripper by Tanvir Islam finally got him out for 21 runs. Losing Usman was yet another blow for Dhaka Capitals, as he was striking the ball nicely at the crease.
After his dismissal, the middle order of Capitals collapsed quickly. Their captain, Mohammad Mithun, once again failed to make an impact, as he got out after scoring just 8 runs. The in-form Shamim Hossain also went back to the pavilion early due to Mahedi Hasan’s smart bowling. These dismissals broke the back of the Dhaka Capitals batting lineup, as the Royals gained the upper hand by removing key batters.
Some late push by Nasir Hossain and Mohammad Saifuddin then helped Dhaka Capitals to cross the 100-run mark. The cameo by Mohammad Saifuddin was worth watching, as he struck the ball confidently, knowing there wasn’t much batting left in the lineup after him.
As a result of that, Dhaka Capitals managed to score 122 runs at the end of the innings, in which Mohammad Saifuddin starred with the bat. From the perspective of Chattogram Royals, their bowlers did remarkably well, especially Tanvir Islam, who took 3 wickets while conceding just 8 runs in four overs.
The reply of Chattogram Royals in the second innings was brutal. They started hitting boundaries from the very first ball, knowing that the target wasn’t very big. Due to having less scoreboard pressure, both Mohammad Naim and Adam Rossington played with confidence. They took down the Dhaka Capitals bowlers aggressively, showcasing their strong intent to hit.
Mohammad Naim smashed a classy 54 runs off 40 balls, hitting 7 fours and a six. His partner, Adam Rossington, was especially impressive, as he scored a quick 60 runs at a solid strike rate of 166. Their big partnership finally sealed the Royals’ victory, as they chased the target inside 12.4 overs. Both openers remained unbeaten till the end of the match, helping Chattogram Royals register an emphatic 10-wicket win over Dhaka Capitals.
