Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam has returned to his roots—literally. After a short stay in the United States following the ODI series in the West Indies, the stylish right-hander is back in Lahore and has resumed training at a local cricket institute.

Sources say Babar took to the nets on Friday, practicing alongside emerging talent as he hones his technique and rebuilds his confidence. There are suggestions he may feature in a local tournament organized by the institute as part of his comeback strategy.

The training return comes on the back of a lean ODI series in the Caribbean, where he managed just 56 runs across three matches, with a top score of 47. Adding to his challenges, Babar was surprisingly left out of Pakistan’s T20 squad for the Asia Cup and his central contract was downgraded from Category A to B in the recent PCB list.

As Babar rebuilds, both form and reputation, the spotlight will turn to the West Indies ODI series to assess whether he can force his way back into the national T20 setup. Strong performances there could reopen doors ahead of the Asia Cup. With determination clear in his net sessions, there's cautious optimism that a resurgence may be in the works.
