Bumrah Breaks Barriers: Becomes First Indian Pacer to Top ICC Test Bowling Rankings!

Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has climbed to the top of the ICC Test bowling rankings. It makes him the first Indian bowler ever to achieve this feat, surpassing his teammate Ravichandran Ashwin who previously held the position.

Bumrah became the world’s top best bowler after being a key figure in India’s victory against England in the India vs England Test in Visakhapatnam. The most recent ICC Test Rankings for the bowlers were released on 7 February, wednesday. Bumrah defeated his teammate India’s Ravichandran Ashwin and also South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada to reach the top of the leaderboard.

Before this, Ashwin was ranked first. In the latest ICC Test Rankings for bowlers, Ashwin has dropped two spots to claim third place, while Rabada continues to hold onto the second spot.

'World Record' Set by Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah has achieved something extraordinary as he became the first bowler in the history of cricket to be ranked number one in all three formats being the ODI, Test and T20. Only two Asian players have achieved this and seen the top of the leaderboard which are Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah.

Bumrah bowled brilliantly in the opening two Tests of the current five match Test series between England and India. With six wickets in the first innings and three in the second, the great bowler was vital in India's crushing victory against England in the second Test at Visakhapatnam.

Jasprit Bumrah is now the best wicket taker with 15 wickets in 2 test matches taken place between India vs England. Six wickets were taken with an average 45 runs in the current series.

In the previous round of rankings, Bumrah had 825 points which was good for fourth place. However, his bowling was exploited and helped him achieve a personal best record by moving up to the top with 881 points.
