Even as the debate over screening Indian films in local cinema rages on, all eyes remain on Hindi films featuring Pakistani artists. While future collaborations remain on hold, some films featuring Pakistani actors (that were made before the unrest began on the borders) are gearing up for release.

Chief among them is Raees, which features Mahira Khan, opposite the Badshah of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan. Another similarly casted project is the Irrfan Khan film, Hindi Medium, which features Pakistan’s very own Saba Qamar in the lead role. Now that the first look of the film is here, we can honestly say that they look good together.

On his part, actor Irrfan Khan took to his Twitter account to reveal the first look of the film, which sees him riding a rickshaw and Qamar sitting in the backseat. Sporting a desi avatar, Qamar looks beautiful. The portrayal is miles away from her rock-star ‘look’ in Lahore Se Aagey.

Directed by Saket Chaudhry, Hindi Medium is a rom-com about a couple, Khan and Qamar, from Chandni Chowk who is keen to become a part of Delhi’s elite circle. Irrfan Khan, known for his strong roles is taking a break from the intensity and is playing a light-hearted character in the film.

While the makers of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Raees received lot of flak for casting Pakistani artists, we hope that the situation gets better by March 2017 – when Hindi Medium releases.

Saba said, “Bollywood is a whole new ballgame and had an amazing experience working with all of them” and while shooting for her film in India the team made her “feel very much at home.”
Hindi Medium revolves around the lives of a middle-class couple settled in Chandni Chowk, Delhi. Saba plays Irrfan’s imposing and chirpy wife.

Rustom Movie Review

Akshay Kumar tries hard but the film is a dreary piece of work

Rustom Movie Cast: Akshay Kumar, Ileana D’Cruz, Esha Gupta, Arjan Bajwa, Kumud Mishra, Pawan Malhotra

The infamous 1959 Nanavati case had spawned a couple of early films, neither of which came close to the lurid excitement of the real- life incident which involved a handsome naval officer, his lovely-but-lonely wife, and her lover, and a sensational murder.

And yet both Yeh Raaste Hain Pyar Ke and Achanak bear a stronger allegiance to the Nanavati case than Akshay Kumar’s Rustom, which borrows the core idea, and then adds a layer of extra intrigue. The idea may have been to spice up an already spicy plot, but the result is dilution, and it doesn’t work in the favor of the film Continue reading “Rustom Movie Review”
